Ok ladies…today, it’s all about the shorts. Running shorts that is. The ones that don’t ride up. Because there is nothing worse than running with your shorts stuck in a place they don’t belong. So, I have 3 current favorites that I’m rotating through and they have ALL passed the run test…with no riding up….at least for me. So, please don’t send me hate mail if you purchase a pair of these shorts and they don’t fit perfectly while running. I’m just saying they work for me but everyone has their faves…plus all three pairs are super cute and comfy which is a win win to me. Also, I am fully aware that these choices are all a little pricey. BUT, before you decide against them based on cost know this..they will last. I only have 3 pairs that I’m currently using to run in and I didn’t buy them all at once. I spaced it out and they are super high quality so you don’t need many pairs. Let’s get to it shall we? First up….the Oiselle Distance short……
Sorry the pic is a little blurry. Here’s a better pic…
I’m fairly new to Oiselle but this company keeps impressing me. These shorts are comfortable and fit true to size. They are $39 on the Oiselle website but I have seen them on Amazon as well. I have a hard time with shorts. I carry my..shall we say muscle( I do have muscular legs…so I’ve been told. I also have some veins and other things that don’t belong thanks to my awesome genetics..it’s a work in progress ya’ll)…in my lower half. I have a small waist with a long torso and shorter legs. It can be infuriating trying to find shorts that fit in both places. I tend to be more of a capri’s girl when I run but this summer I decided to embrace the shorts, plus I’ve been working hard on the legs. The Oiselle distance gave me an instant confident boost. I took a risk, ordered my normal size even though they looked a little teeny in the picture, and they fit. Ahhh! Most of us aren’t built like that model so it was a huge relief, and a plus for this company, that their stuff fits well. You will likely see lots of my Oiselle finds on the blog as they have made it into my running clothes section of my closet….which is most of my closet. Here’s the link to these awesome bad boys in case you need to order a pair right now….http://www.oiselle.com/shop/running-bottoms/running-shorts-and-skirts/distance-short
Next up…the lululemon tracker short(I know, expensive taste…go with me on this one).
I have a bit of an emotional attachment to these shorts. Back in February, I broke a cardinal rule of racing. My hubby and I were on a date, conveniently enough our restaurant was within walking distance from the lulu store. It was meant to be. He was sweet enough to walk down with me to “browse” (yea right). I had a gift card though ok. Anyway, we were a week away from running the NapaValley Marathon. I had trained all winter in cold weather stuff and had planned to run the marathon in capri’s. However, after stalking weather.com we realized it was probably going to be a little warmer so I needed some shorts. You never…I repeat..NEVER race in something you’ve never worn on a training run. Well, I decided I was running in these shorts. I was injured. I had patellar tendonosis therefor, I wasn’t running until the race. Because very smart people like me run marathons with significant knee injuries. Ugh. Anyway, since I couldn’t run that week and I ‘d already finished all my long training runs….I went out cold turkey with these shorts. Oh. My. Word. They were amazing. They have pockets on the sides(don’t worry, they lay flat and don’t add bulk to the hips) so I could stash lots of gu’s and chomps. They are also made of a bit of a heavier material(not heavy but thick? Not sure how to describe it but it’s awesome) so they stayed put. I ended up running 2 hours of the marathon in the pouring rain. These shorts outdid themselves. They didn’t ride up and they didn’t cause any chafing or discomfort even when soaking wet. I bonded with these shorts over hours of pain and discomfort. Now, I wear these with cute little tanks and they look super cute and not too workouty. They are currently $54 on the lulu site..here’s the link…http://shop.lululemon.com/products/clothes-accessories/shorts-run/Tracker-Short-II-Swift?cc=14689&skuId=3553205&catId=shorts-run
These are a great birthday or anniversary gift. They’ll last you a long time, promise.
Last but not least…the Nike Rival. I was in Dick’s a few weeks ago picking up something for Father’s Day when I saw these…
For some reason, Nike’s website doesn’t show ALL the colors but if you google Nike Rival short you can find lots of images in lots of colors.
So that’s it for today! Hope ya’ll enjoyed this week’s Must Have’s and don’t hate me for my slightly expensive taste. I love hearing from you so please weigh in with any of your faves that you want featured on the blog. I love finding new great stuff to share with you. Happy Running!!!
