I know. It’s very similar to what I’ve been doing but I wanted to try to put some of the focus back on fitness as much as I can with a little life thrown in the mix. I may change the list around but some of these I want to stay consistent with like the Workout move of the week. Every week I’ll have a different move that we’ve incorporated into our Texas Fit Chicks workout. I also want to bring you great products that I’ve tried so I thought changing things up might keep me a little more focussed on what I want our Friyay’s to look like. Since I tend to be slightly ADD and I can not for the life of me focus on one thing. List’s are my jam.
I’ve loved Friday Favorites but I want to put my own spin on it. So, we’ll see how this goes!!! And as always, I love hearing from you and hearing your opinion so feel free to shout out any favorite you want to see during the week and I’ll do my best to include it. Ok, here we go.
Favorite Quote of the Week
I see a lot of quotes on Instagram. Some I scroll past and other’s stop me in my tracks. That’s what this one did. I love Runemz and have followed her for a long time. Her posts are pretty incredible and how her body is able to run amazes me. Plus, anyone that can pound out a full marathon on a treadmill is tops in my book. Back to the quote. I think about this concept a lot. Am I living this life with depth? Am I building relationships that have meaning and purpose? Am I investing in people, loving them unconditionally, using my gifts and taking advantage of every second God has given me on this earth He made? I sure hope so. I would go on with this quote to say that I want to have lived the depth of my life. To enjoy it in all it’s ups and downs and to do things that matter. Deep thoughts for a Friday morning.
Favorite Workout Move of the Week

How to put that exact video here I haven’t figured out yet on WordPress. I’m a work in progress. So, here’s the LINK. This is a great core move plus your working shoulder’s and hamstrings while holding the ball in position. Every week in bootcamp I think about my favorite exercises. Texas Fit Chicks is GREAT at changing things up and allowing your body to try all new things. Try this move. It will not disappoint.

Ok. I LOVE me some Instagram. I love connecting with people who have similar interests and I thought it would be fun to feature a new account each week.
My two new faves are Fyrfytnmomma and Fyrfytndaddy. Sorry no pic. I thought that would be creepy. This is a husband and wife firefighter team training for Chicago using the Hansons Method which is exactly what I’m doing, minus the fighting fires part. They have a cool story and I LOVE that they train together and share passions. It’s pretty awesome and they post some great content on nutrition as well. Go give them a follow peeps!!!
Run of the Week
With all this running, some run’s can be ho hum. This week my speedwork day delivered and my body listened, probably because I let it run in the air conditioning but still, it worked. Speed work this week was 8×600 with a 400 m recovery in between. My goal for this run was to jog all my recoveries instead of walk them. I did it!! The whole run was spent…..running. No walking involved. Not that it’s bad to walk, but with the heat lately I’ve allowed some walk breaks, especially on speed work days. I knew running inside I shouldn’t need those and wanted to challenge my mind more than anything that it could conquer these speed sessions and recover at a jog. It worked. It felt so good just to push a little past my comfortable. Try this workout if you are currently running enough to handle the distance. It’s a good one!!!
Running Item of the Week
I have a new favorite compression sock. They are called Tiux. Here’s a link to their site. They are a new company and I would love if you would give them some love. These sucker’s are definitely into keeping it tight. I broke a sweat getting them on. BUT, once I got them into place, my legs and feet were so so happy. With my mileage only increasing each week recovery is becoming more and more important. Tiux are called graduated compression socks. They form more of a snug fit around the ankle and gradually decrease as they go up your calf. Here is their explanation…
“Graduated compression will enhance circulation and increase the level of oxygenated blood to your legs, while pumping deoxygenated blood back to your heart. Stimulating blood flow helps athletes improve performance, reduce muscle fatigue and recover faster.”
Sounds good to me. They feel like a dream when you put them on. I don’t run in compression socks because I have some weird sensory issues when I run and can’t handle the feel. I’m weird. Moment of the Week
Yes. My kid is cleaning my shower….that is getting ripped out on Monday but hey…I never turn down cleaning help.
So this is Jake and a friend cleaning my kitchen yesterday. Ya’ll, angels started singing. They helped me put a new rug under my kitchen table, then informed me that the table was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Can’t argue there. So, they spent the next hour cleaning the floor’s, table and chairs, stove, counter tops, Lila’s room, my bathroom, and the window’s in the kitchen. What the what?! And they said it was fun. Well ok then.
Book of the Week
I pre-ordered Jen Hatmaker’s new book “For the Love” and CAN NOT WAIT to get my hands on it. She’s real and raw and so incredibly refreshing to me. Notice the tag line at the bottom. Fighting for grace in a world of impossible standards. Can you relate to this? I can. Sometimes the pressure’s to be perfect and look perfect and do IT ALL can come crashing in on you. Friend, can I just tell you that you don’t have to do it all. Do what YOU do and not what everyone else says you should do. Do your gifts. Your abilitie’s. Don’t be afraid to fail or be vulnerable to the world around you. People crave real. They crave grace. Knowing that it’s ok to fall and that being perfect is not really all it’s cracked up to be.
