I can’t believe it’s been a year since I took this leap into the blogging world. Technically it’s been a little over a year but still. Time flies does it not? I kind of always said I didn’t do blogs. Didn’t read them. Didn’t get the hype. I love to write but never saw that translating to a screen.
Until I did it.
From the beginning I knew I had found something that I’d love. Something that clicked. It’s taken a lot of time and commitment. There are days I’m so completely and totally over it. And then I get a message from a reader or a comment that makes my day and makes this whole crazy process seem worth it.
I’m not the world’s best blogger. I may not get famous or gain millions or even thousands of followers. But I seriously dig this. Crazier things have happened.
We leave for the beach in a week. Last year when we headed to the beach I had just started the blog so this time of year will always remind me of the beginning. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite posts with you from the past year, to have them all in one place. I get that you have LIVES and way more to do with your day than read tons of posts, but here are a few of my favorites for when you have a minute of peace and quiet. Do you get those?
Here’s the thing. You guys make it worth it. For those of you who pop in here and read what I have to say, thank you. You don’t know how much your comments and encouragement mean to me. So, here are a few of my favorite’s. Some simply because of feedback you gave and the impact that had on me.
This post was one of my first. Then I revised it a bit. I think it’s important to share how I became a runner. It is not a natural part of my DNA.
This probably goes down as one of my favorite posts to actually write. I was asked to do a guest post on A Little Bit of Everything blog back in October. Such a fun series on owning your crazies. Since I have a limitless supply of material on crazy, this was a perfect post for me. And it was so beyond fun to write.
The finding joy in the journey post was the most impactful as far as reader response. Ya’ll were amazing. Sharing how you find joy, even in the sorrow’s and valley’s of life. For those of you who shared your heart, thank you. The comments on this post had me in tears and it was heart wrenching to have to pick a winner. But we big time bonded over this post. And I sincerely hope that doesn’t creep you out.
This was hands down the most popular post of the year. I don’t often expect a lot of feedback or exposure. You never know what’s going to generate attention so I try not to make that my aim. Write what’s on my heart or mind and let God take it from there. This post generated a lot of traffic but my ultimate hope is that it encouraged a lot of people, especially women.
This was my very first post. I haven’t even gone back to read it. It had no pictures because I didn’t have a clue how to add photo’s yet. Glad I figured that out. I had no idea then how much this blog would come to mean to me. So thankful for this first post that spun the wheels into motion.
Another aspect of blogging that I LOVE is taking photo’s. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite captures with you….
This is probably one of my favorite gopro pics I’ve been able to capture. It was for a campaign I did for Phenoh and I love how it turned out. Plus, a good shorts shot is hard to come by. Trust me, the out takes when I’m wearing shorts are enough to admit me to an institution.
Sunrise is the best
we had so much fun with the gopro in the snow!
Sun captures are some of my faves
This pic generated the most likes on my IG account. I have no idea why lol!! I mean I like it but I don’t get it at all! It’s a little dreary to me but I have to say my Newton’s are the star of the show.
This girl and the sun are a total win. That was a hard day though for real.
Hill repeats. Shoot me now
Hair cut day always needs to be documented. Always. Because the next day the hair is in a bun. Don’t judge me.
Our first pic in Barcelona!
Black tie night in Spain
Beach club day in Spain
My girl and me
So there you have it. A few highlights from my first year in blogging. I pray this thing continues to grow as something that encourages. Something that’s relatable. Something that is helpful. Something that is fun, and funny. Something that is insightful and meaningful. Something that continues to bring me joy as it has this year. Happy Friday and thanks for being so faithful!!
Any highlights from your year? Favorite race, favorite run, PR or just some personal progress that you’ve made? Who says we can’t reflect in June anyway?
